Sharing Smart Broadband Internet Connection

So, You want to establish a networking and sharing your internet connection through a hub. You are in the right page.

Firstly, I just want ask you something, what is the difference between a “hub” and a “router”?. To give you a brief description of the two, let me explain in my own way (noob way) ok. Hub is device that distribute or connect devices in a network without a DHCP addressing. Ask Mr. Google what does DHCP means. But a router “DOES”. A router will assign an IP Address within its range 1-244 range. Example: Your router physical address is 192.168.6.0, then its client has this range: 192.168.6.1 to 255. Hope you got what I’m trying you to picture out about HUBS and ROUTERS.

But we are talking here sharing an internet connection without a router. Just a hub. Want to know why I’m not encouraging direct sharing of internet connection trough a hub? Because smartbroadband will detect multiple IP’s once your source will be plug-in in a “HUB”, hence your connection will need to be authenticated by the smart server. So what will happen is that, your client “ONE BY ONE” enter your account details. And worse, only one at a time can connect to the internet. Smart can do that all the day. Hahaha..

So here we go, let start.

You need two Ethernet (LAN) port here: one for the internet connection, and second will be for broadcasting IP’s and sharing internet connection

Follow the screenshot.
1.       Right Click the Ethernet adapter that is CONNECTED TO YOUR SMARTBRO OR SOURCE.

2. Choose  Status
3. And Click Properties

3. Click “Advanced” Tab

 4. Tick the “Internet Connection Sharing”

5. Click OK.
There should be a pop up message informing you that the IP address of your second adapter is changed to 192.168.0.1. Choose yes if you do not want to set up a static ip addressing to the client. (Much easier)
But if you want to set up static ip addressing to the client, you should configure your second Ethernet adapter.

Double click your second adapter and choose "Properties" and double click (Internet Protocol TCP/IP)
It should look like this one:

Example you want this class: 192.168.6.1 to 255,
Then you’re your second adapter should have this:
 IP Address: 192.168.6.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Leave the others blank.

In your Client should have the IP address in 6 index. Example: 192.168.6.1 (you should not use 6.0 because that is your default gateway)
So:
Configure your client this way:
IP Address: 192.168.6.1 to 255
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.6.0 (which is your second adapter that shares/bridged the internet connection from adapter one)
You are done.
